Character Dynamics
"Do you want to get out fastest or do you want to get out alive?" - L35
Forming a bond with your partner is essential to nurture trust and support in the team. By default, each character in player's Racer Library has unique features and preferences, customising player experience on top of different Neo Spirits.
Character features:
Personality traits: voicelines and expressions, triggered during the race.
Biographies: character backgrounds and memories, accessible via Racer Library.
Animations: various idle animations in Racer Library and during world exploration.
Navigators:
Power-up preferences: every navigator has an inherent preference towards certain power-ups, to which the pilot is directed during the race.
Shortcut detection: navigators are not equally skilled in identifying shortcuts, with different characters being able to detect different shortcuts during the lap.
Risk-taking: when selecting the main route to follow, different navigators will give preference to the route most fitting to their personal tactics (e.g. shortest distance, fastest time, least turns)
Pilots:
Speed control: every pilot has an inherent preference towards default speed, depending on pilot's abilities and personality.
Aggressiveness: pilots differ in their approaches to collisions with other cars: certain drivers are more willing to take damages if they are likely to harm the opponents.
Manoeuvring: pilots are not equally skilled in manoeuvring narrow and difficult areas, with some being more proficient with challenging roads and drifts.
Trust points:
By repeatedly racing with the same character from the Racer Library, the player earns Trust Points (TPs). Trust Points have 4 thresholds: Ally, Teammate, Partner, Synthesis.
A) TPs for Navigators
Increasing TPs with navigator characters increase:
Probability of showing a shortcut: higher likelihood to alert a player of shortcut areas.
Probability of shooting down targets: stronger ability to identify targets for side missions.
Rebellion time span: higher tolerance to rebellion phases if a player goes off-track.
Number of supportive voice lines: more voice lines and supportive expressions during the race.
B) TPs for Pilots
Increasing TPs with pilot characters increase:
Number of probe zones: higher tolerance to the number of probe zones, as player takes control.
Duration of probe zones: higher tolerance to time when the car is handled by the player.
Drifting ability: drifting assistance generates smoother manoeuvring.
Number of supportive voice lines: more voice lines and supportive expressions during the race.
