Gameplay
"If we go any faster - the car will blow up! Get that virused cooler now, bug it!" - L35
Generation Synthesis has a non-linear gameplay with several necessary story milestones required to unlock specific features and locations. The following outline key gameplay stages and modes.
League Entry Assessment Program (LEAP)
LEAP is the first gameplay stage, required to be completed by every player. It is a test aimed at testing player's capabilities to decide for an appropriate role - and overall eligibility for the League!
Accessibility:
Immediate upon loading the game.
Important features:
High scores in the following areas decide in favor of each role:
Pilots: reaction, spatial awareness, vehicle control, risk assessment, technological proficiency.
Navigators: analytical thinking, map reading, memory & quick learning, problem-solving.
Upon passing the test, the player is assigned a role of a pilot or a navigator. This role cannot be changed once confirmed.
Players are allowed to re-take LEAP once to change the outcome of the test organically.
If players disagree with the outcome, they can definitively change their role after the re-take.
Once the LEAP stage is complete, the game is played as E24: Eriko (pilots) or Eisuke (navigators).
World exploration:
Navigators and pilots follow the same gameplay when exploring the semi-open world:
Character interaction:
Chat with NPCs you meet to learn more about them, the world and the League.
Chat with owned characters from Character Library from your home or phone.
Environment interaction: interact with multiple items for immersive exploration.
Sponsor relations: build relationships with sponsors to unlock unique experiences.
Transportation: travel between various locations to explore the city life.
Side missions: complete various tasks arising along the way to earn rewards.

Important features:
Players experience different plotlines depending on the outcome of LEAP. Despite both E24 sharing personalities, behaviors, animations and lore, actions of NPCs differ accordingly.
By default, Eisuke is paired with Kangjin (K05). Eriko is paired with Lingyan (L35).
Kangjin or Lingyan are added to the player's Racer Library by default.
Rewards:
Unique for every story chapter and milestone.
Most common rewards are Doyens, Igneous Rocks, Zenith Impressions, Kellar Matter, Prostir Fuel, Focus Shakes.
Racing:
Racing is at the core of Generation Synthesis gameplay with player experience differing according to the character role. Detailed description of racing gameplay is found in Racing Experience tab.
As you graduate from the Academy, you enter the world of racing addiction. Expand your car collection in the Garage, unlock unique boosters and explore Shodo's many opportunities to race.
General features:
Every car comes with Maintenance Points (MPs) that grow with crashes and damages, gained during physical races. Upon crossing the threshold of MPs, a car becomes unusable.
Each car's MPs drop naturally with time, as it waits in the Garage.
Prostir fuel quickens car maintenance.
Neo Spirits are special talents unique to every character. You are able to use the talent of the chosen playable character and your partner character during the race.
Every race consumes a certain number of Focus Shakes. You can purchase more Focus Shakes with Doyens in a Groceries Store.
A. Story mode racing:
Racing is an integral part of the narrative and plot progression, with players immersed in multiple competitions in and out of League. Races are introduced into the gameplay organically, following the story pace.
Important features:
Pre-determined by the story:
Playable character.
Partner character.
Available boosters.
Maps.
Chosen by players:
Cars
Modules
Chargers
Car MPs increase with received in-race damages. A car may become unusable if the damages in consecutive races become too large.
B. Simulator racing:
As League's popularity grew, race simulators were built across Shodo to let amateurs and professionals practice their skills. Access a location with a race simulator to practice and race whenever you want:
Access the simulator: travel to any of the training simulators tagged on the map.
Select the character: choose your character and choose your partner from Racer Library.
Select the car: select the car from your Garage.
Choose enhancements: power up your car with modules and chargers.
Select the map: choose one of the tens of maps available at the certain simulator.
Select the boosters: select your boosters or allow the simulator to choose them automatically. These become available to all NPC opponents.
Race: enjoy the ride and prepare for the League!
Important features:
Depending on the location, the opening hours of some simulators are location-based (e.g. only accessible in the mornings/evenings for the players).
Some maps are only available at specific simulator locations.
Every location provides different rewards for successfully completed races.
Car MPs do not increase with received in-race damages due to simulation nature of the mode.
Rewards: Most common rewards are Modules, Chargers, Prostir Fuel, Kellar Matter.
C. Haruna Drive racing:
Haruna Drive welcomes anyone to try their skills at the grand night circuits around the city. Whether you are an Academy dropout, undercover Elite racer or devoted League fan - anyone with a car and passion is welcome to join. Only a few know the person behind the biggest amateur competition, and even less have ever spoken to the man observing the night races from the height of his Zenith Tower.
Important features:
This mode is location-based:
Haruna Drive races are only accessible after 8PM player time.
Stakes and rewards are higher on Fridays and Saturdays.
The stakes and rewards grow but progressively diminish after 3 successful first-place drives: the crowd will stop betting if they notice the racer is too good.
Keep track of your Hype Score to see if your popularity coefficient is improving.
Change the car to lower-tier or wait until the crowd's attention is returned to get higher rewards again.
This mode is only accessible after passing "Lone Rider: Anyone can do it, kid" story node. The locations are otherwise locked.
Car MPs increase with received in-race damages. A car may become unusable if the damages in consecutive races become too large.
Rewards: Most common rewards are Earth Currencies, Igneous Rocks, Foreign Credits, Focus Shakes.
Rapid Review Room:
Step into the post-race chaos of the Rapid Review Room to join heated discussions about obstacles, suspicious strategies and potential cheats you have observed! Here, racers gather to debrief and analyze concluded races, but - mostly - openly criticize each other’s performance. Led by Hashi, Earth's famous sarcastic League Alliance representative, this therapy session is anything but relaxing. Hashi’s job is keep the feedback flowing, but RRR often feels more like a circus than a briefing to her - and a free PR stunt for most of the participants.
Important features:
Players have 6 seconds to participate in the discussion by selecting one of pop-up responses. Players can also remain silent and observe.
Choosing to speak up can unlock hidden details through new narrative perspectives and insider drama.
Hall of Fame Stories:
As you expand your Racer Library with AIs of your favorite League racers, you will get access to biographies of the elite champions. Immerse yourself into the backstories to live through the most impactful episodes of characters' lives, unlocking unique memories and untold experiences.
Important features:
The stories are accessible in 2 ways:
If the Professional or Elite character is in player Racer Library, the story unlocks automatically.
If the Professional or Elite character is not in player's Racer Library, you can access specific stories with Zenith Impressions.
The character, whose Hall of Fame Story is followed, becomes temporarily playable.
Rewards: Most common rewards are Zenith Impressions, Igneous Rocks, Favors, Focus Shakes.
